Christian DiCicco is a life-long South Philadelphian committed to improving our neighborhoods and giving the residents of the 184th legislative district the voice we deserve. A graduate of St. Joe’s Prep and Widener Law School, Christian believes that it is time to bring change and strong leadership to South Philadelphia.
DiCicco’s vision for South Philadelphia includes: safer neighborhoods, better schools, a vibrant waterfront with green spaces and recreational areas, and smart, sustainable economic development. DiCicco is aware of the challenges he will face to bring this vision to fruition, but he also sees tremendous opportunity to improve our communities and will not be afraid to fight for us in Harrisburg.
Christian DiCicco's experience as a real estate lawyer and his work with his father, Councilman Frank DiCicco, have helped him develop the knowledge and commitment necessary to protect our neighborhoods. DiCicco will work proactively to identify opportunities for growing our ports and economy and will work with our communities prior to making decisions that affect them. He understands the loopholes that have been exploited to force obtrusive big-box retail and disgraceful casino development into our neighborhoods. Christian will stand side-by-side with our community and his father in the fight against Foxwoods Casino. DiCicco will lead the effort to repeal gaming-related legislation that our current representative supported.
In order to reduce crime and improve the economic health of Philadelphia, Christian will work in Harrisburg to turn around our failing school system. We must provide our children with the education they need to succeed and the City with the skilled workforce it needs to compete. DiCicco will not allow Harrisburg to ignore Philadelphia's children any longer.
As Executive Director of Citizens Alliance for Better Neighborhoods, Christian has focused on providing efficient services and improving the quality of life in South Philadelphia. Under his guidance, Citizens Alliance has cleaned our streets and sidewalks, removing thousands of bags of litter and clearing over a thousand tons of trash. Citizens Alliance has planted hundreds of trees and converted dozens of vacant lots into community gardens throughout the 184th District.
As a Board Member of SEPTA, Christian successfully pushed for dedicated funding for mass transit as well as free transportation for our school children. DiCicco voted against every proposed SEPTA fare increase and is a leading advocate for reduced emission and cleaner burning vehicles. He also helped convince a railcar manufacturer to build an assembly plant in South Philadelphia.
Christian is an active member of Victim/Witness Services of South Philadelphia, a non-profit organization helping those most affected by crime. DiCicco has led the effort to revitalize East Passyunk Avenue, creating a thriving neighborhood commercial corridor. DiCicco is also a Hearing Committee Member of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s Disciplinary Board.
