I was born and raised in Philadelphia.  I’ve lived my entire life within a one-block radius and over the years, I’ve been disappointed to see my friends and family move out of the City that I love.  When I was elected to City Council in 1996, I wanted to find a reason for people to come back: a reason to never leave in the first place.  So, I promised to transform our communities, our city and our quality-of-life.  That’s why I ran for office and why I wake up every morning.

By working with local civic groups, town watches, advisory councils, business associations and other elected officials, we have succeeded in making our communities some of the fastest growing, safest and most desirable neighborhoods to live in.  Working together we have helped Philadelphia become one of the world’s great cities.
