Your Neighborhood

Philadelphia is a city of neighborhoods. I believe that the City can not succeed unless those neighborhoods thrive and people want to live there. The question has always been what makes someone want to live in a specific neighborhood?

People also want to live in a neighborhood that is relatively quiet, that has access to schools, libraries and parks, and that is clean and attractive.

These requirements are foremost when anyone moves to a neighborhood or, just as importantly, decides not to leave a neighborhood. These issues have been a priority since I was elected to office.

Representing the only district in the City that has seen a population increase, we’ve worked together and seen success.

I admit, however, that this success has presented a unique set of challenges. Rapid development throughout the District pressures local community groups and city agencies. However, by teaming with local civic associations, we have been successful in insuring responsible development that protects historic buildings and preserves and creates open space.
